A
Brief
History
If you fancy having a go at archery, we will be at various shows and open days throughout the year where you will be able to try your hand (or eye!) at our fabulous pastime in total safety under the guidance of one of our club members. If the bug gets you (and that’s how a lot of our members started) you can then come along to the hall for six weeks training where we will go through all aspects of archery. We can even point you in the right direction when you are ready to purchase your own gear. If you already have your own we help you to get the best out of it.
Look out for us at the re-enactment weekend in Duncannon Fort in early June where we will be demonstrating archery as well as have a go sessions.

The club is again going to be represented at the European Bowhunter Championships being held in Austria this year and we wish all 11 of our participants the best of luck. This will be one of the biggest competitions held by the IFAA, to whom the IFAF is affiliated, with well over 1100 archers from all over Europe descending on Stuhlfelden for the week of 21st May. You will be able to see how they are doing by following the links from this site or from the IFAF site www.irishfieldarchery.com
We will also be represented at the UK and Island of Ireland Field Archery Championships, a real mouthful so UKIFAC! This is taking place on the weekend of 10th and 11th of July at Fonmon Castle in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales. As this is field archery as opposed to bowhunter that we normally do this will be quite a challenge and we wish them well. Dunbrody Archers will be holding this competition next year, 2011, so we hope to get some good ideas whilst in Wales. Keep an eye on this website for how we do and any developments for 2011.

We look forward to seeing you very soon and hope that you enjoy what we do so much that you will join us in the near future.

Dunbrody Archers continue to be a very busy club having been invited to set a number of “have a go days” as well as some archery demonstrations.
